Lifecycle Stages
The four stages
Section titled “The four stages”| Stage | Emoji | Requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Observer | 🌱 | Default for new members (first 14 days) |
| Active | 🌿 | 15+ days in server, 20+ messages, 7+ active days in last 30 |
| Regular | 🌳 | 61+ days, 100+ messages, 15+ active days in last 30 |
| Veteran | 🏔️ | 180+ days, 500+ messages, 20+ active days in last 30 |
All three criteria must be met for a stage upgrade. “Active days” means days with at least one XP event in the last 30 days.
At-risk detection
Section titled “At-risk detection”A member is flagged as “at-risk” when they haven’t earned any XP in the past 30 days, regardless of their stage. A Veteran who stops participating for a month is at-risk. An Observer who never started is at-risk.
This is the key metric for retention. At-risk members are the ones most likely to leave your server.
Checking individual members
Section titled “Checking individual members”/member-stage @usernameShows the member’s current stage, all engagement metrics, and at-risk status. Requires Manage Server permission.
Server-wide overview
Section titled “Server-wide overview”/server-stagesShows how many members are in each stage - a quick health check of your community’s activity distribution.
Finding at-risk members
Section titled “Finding at-risk members”/lifecycle-analyzeThe most actionable command. Shows:
- At-risk members who may need re-engagement
- Stage distribution breakdown
- Overall engagement summary
A practical workflow
Section titled “A practical workflow”You notice server activity declining. Run /lifecycle-analyze to see who’s at-risk. Look at former Regulars and Veterans who’ve gone quiet - these are your highest-value re-engagement targets. Check their /member-stage for specifics. Consider reaching out directly or creating events targeting their interests.
Members can check their own journey
Section titled “Members can check their own journey”Members can use /my-journey (no permissions needed) to see their own lifecycle progression and stage history.
